PMS5003 (G5) is a digital versatile particulate matter concentration sensor can be used to get the quality and quantity in the unit volume of suspended particulate matter in the air, and a digital interface in the form of output. The sensor can be embedded in a variety of concentrations of suspended particulate matter in the air or related instrumentation equipment to improve the environment, to provide timely and accurate concentration data.

The sensor uses laser light scattering theory. And even if the scattering of laser irradiation on the suspended particles in the air, while the scattered light is collected at a specific angle, resulting scattered light intensity versus time curve. Furthermore the use of microprocessor-based algorithm theory Michaelis (MIE), obtained an equivalent amount of particulate matter within the size and unit volume of particulate matter of different particle sizes.
